Lake Nakuru
Travel to Experience The Wildlife at Lake Nakuru
Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes flanked by rocky escarpments, forests and waterfalls; it is a bird watcher’s paradise, located a convenient 2-hour drive from the capital of Nairobi.
Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya’s well known national parks and probably best known for its flocks of famous pink flamingos that move seasonally through the area. Rising water levels at times force them elsewhere but, depending on the time of your visit, they may be back in residence during your stay.
The lake area is also home to some big game including black and white rhino, large groups of hippos, leopard, zebra, buffalo and giraffe. A highlight of a trip to Lake Nakuru is sighting the rare tree-climbing lions in the park - Flamingo Hill is a favorite lion-spotting spot.
