Amazing experience that took us to two different safari lodges. With plenty of opportunities for hiccups along the way the whole trip ran very smoothly and was the trip of a life time. I highly recommend Robert Mark Safaris if you are looking for a hassle free, safari experience.

INSPIRED SAFARIS IN THE OKAVANGO DELTA
"In time, and with water, everything changes" - Leonardo Da Vinci
The Okavango Delta is a lush, life-giving river delta in the northwestern part of Botswana. Here, in the middle of the Kalahari Desert, a river finds its end.
The delta is formed by the Okavango River, which originates in the distant highlands of Angola. When the river reaches Botswana it splits up, forming the largest inland river delta to be seen anywhere in the world. It covers some 15 000 km2 - a massive area - and as such also forms one of the largest nature conservation areas in southern Africa. It was also named as a world heritage site in June 2014, a well-deserved award in our view.
BIG SEASONAL DIFFERENCE, WITH WET OR DRY LANDSCAPES
The beauty of the Okavango Delta's natural diversity is to be found in the stark difference between the dry and rainy seasons. Floodwaters in the river caused by the heavy rainfall season in the highlands of Angola can take a couple of months to reach Botswana, and normally arrive after the rainfall season has passed, during the generally drier season occurring between June and October of each year.
Since large parts of Botswana are dry and desolate, the floodwaters of the Okavango attract much game from the Kalahari Desert to the south, creating a fantastic environment for safari trips - an area rich in game, and rich in the large predator cats that are drawn to the area to feed.
Some of the camps in the Okavango, such as Mombo Camp and Little Mombo, are on the drier Mopane Triangle land within the Delta, while others, such as Nxabega are on the wetlands, which form in the mosaic of floodwater-covered plains in between. Fantastic birdlife can be seen at these wetter camps, and 'mokoro' outings are a novel and interesting way to spend an afternoon. At the camps on drier land expect to see larger game - great for seeing predators in action.
HIGH-QUALITY SUSTAINABLE ECO-TOURISM
The Okavango Delta area was a pioneer in luxury sustainable eco-tourism in Africa, and it remains one of our preferred areas to visit. We truly believe that with the abundance in wildlife and high quality of the lodges, it offers everything by way of a true African safari experience.
