LUXURY SAFARIS IN ETOSHA
Etosha is a vast and ancient land of great seasonal paradox. The word Etosha means "Great White Place", and a massive mineral pan dominates the Etosha National Park, covering around 25% of the National Park. For most of the year it is a dry pan of salt and dusty clay, where thirst is common, and animal life is at risk. After very heavy rainfall it can fill for short periods of time, and attract thousand of wading birds, flamingos and wild game.
Around the edges of the pan there are also life giving perennial springs that draw free roaming game in good numbers, making for some excellent game viewing opportunities.
The best months to visit are during are the cooler and drier months of the winter, between May and October. The national park itself is popular with self drive visitors and can become too busy at times, and as such we prefer the lodges located outside the national park, which offer a higher level of service and quality than those within the park, and do so with higher levels of exclusivity.
