LUXURY TRAVEL TO VICTORIA FALLS
The Victoria Falls is located along a stretch of the Zambezi River that forms the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. This is unquestionably one of the great experiences of Africa, and we recommend it for a few days when combined together with some of the wildlife reserves around this area: On seeing it for the first time, Livingstone remarked:
"No one can imagine the beauty of the view from anything witnessed in England. It had never been seen by European eyes; but scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angles in their flight".
The Zambezi and Victoria falls can be appreciated form both the Zimbabwean and the Zambian side of the river. In today's times, we feel there are generally better accommodation options on the Zambian side, which also offers easy connectivity to Johannesburg and the Okavango Delta in Botswana. However, the Zimbabwean side does still have one or two good options, our favourite of which is the Victoria Falls Hotel - a classic African 'grande-dame' luxury hotel. Sometimes, a visit to the Zimbabwean side also avoids having to apply for a Zambian Visa, depending on your nationality.
Another great thing to add to an itinerary in this area is a journey on The Rovos Rail. This five star luxury train makes regular journeys between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls, and offers our guests a rare and unusual treat!
