BOUTIQUE & PRIVATE VICTORIA FALLS HOTELS
The Zambezi River - which is the fourth longest in Africa - has its origins in the high woodlands of northern Zambia. It then flows around the western and southern border of Zambia, ultimately finding its way to the Indian Ocean along the coastline of Mozambique.
As it flows along the border between Zambia and Botswana it presents many opportunities for enjoyment. Wildlife is abundant on the calmer stretches of the river in this area, with sightings of hippopotamus and crocodile common along the riverbanks. River cruises are a popular way to see and appreciate the wildlife, as well as a relaxing and popular pastime for celebrating the passing of another day, come sunset.
The Victoria Falls is also located along this stretch of the river, and this is unquestionably one of the great experiences of Africa. The sight of the mighty Zambezi River hurtling more than one hundred meters down into the void cannot fail to stir emotion in the first time visitor.
The Zambezi and Victoria falls can be appreciated form both the Zimbabwean and the Zambian side of the river, and given the proximity to northern Botswana’s conservation areas, we recommend a trip to this area be done in conjunction with a visit to these areas as well.
