PRIVATE SAFARIS IN THORNYBUSH AND THE TIMBAVATI
The feel of the Thornybush, Timbavati & Klaserie reserves is that of the quintessential South African private game reserves. Historically these northern areas of South Africa's lowlands had little permanent settlement from man, and are truly unspoiled.
As the name would suggest, the thorny vegetation is dry and crisp during the wintertime, such that the invigorating feeling of the wild is almost tasted in the air.
Being part of the greater Kruger National Park, this area forms an extremely vast conservation area, offering some excellent game viewing, plenty of opportunities to see the big wild cats at very close range in their natural habitat, combined with some excellent game lodge offerings.
The Timbavati Game Reserve is also home to the very unique and famous White Lions - which are extremely rare and regarded by African tribal leaders as the most sacred animal on the African continent. They are white by a genetic mutation thought to be part of longer-term evolutionary loss of pigmentation in the species.
Whilst in the area, Royal Malewane offers an experience of the wild heart of Africa, with truly outstanding hospitality, a restaurant and menu rivalling the world's best culinary artists and a truly memorable private game reserve experience, privatised daily schedules, and reports of excellent sightings of often elusive leopards.
