LUXURY SAFARIS IN AMBOSELI
As we move southeastward from Nairobi toward Mount Kilimanjaro and Tsavo we find two areas that are great combinations with the Maasai Mara whilst in Kenya: Amboseli and Chyulu Hills.
Probably the second of the major national parks in Kenya, Amboseli is well known, and much visited. Its open savannahs have Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop making for some great landscapes, scenery, photography, and wildlife experiences. Amboseli can definitely offer you a valuable experience, however once again we caution against the crowds. Some of the parks in Kenya have become extremely popular over the years, and in places the experience is not what it used to be, or what you may expect. Pick your destination carefully in this area and you will be rewarded, it can make for a great inclusion your itinerary. Follow the mainstream tourists, and you may be disappointed.
Along the main road toward Tsavo, Chyulu Hills National Park lies under and across the Chyulu hills - a range of volcanic hills. This park is almost the size of the Maasai Mara, and it also holds the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop. While there is no accommodation within the national park itself, Ol Donyo is located on a 275 000 acre private ranch in the Chyulu hills. It is well placed on a hillside in a woodland, is far away from the tourist circuit, and it is outstanding.
Continuing further along this road then takes us into Tsavo West and Tsavo East.
