LUXURY SAFARIS IN KENYA

The setting of the 1937 novel “Out of Africa” and film of the same name, Kenya defines the African travel experience, and has over a period of many years earned itself a reputation as one of the most popular African safari tour destinations. This is due to its wonderful variety in landscapes and locations, impressive wildlife population densities, and friendly hospitable local people. Kenya is one of the two countries that immediately come to mind when most people think of the classic East African safari experience. If you are thinking of it and looking to organise a safari in Kenya, allow us at Robert Mark Safaris to make the process easy for you.

ABOUT THE COUNTRY

There is much to see on Kenya safaris, starting with the Maasai Mara in the South of the country and then onto Amboseli, Chyulu Hills, Tsavo East and Tsavo West, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, and then northward into the vicinity of Laikipia and Samburu.

Classic highlights are the Maasai Mara, which is part of the vast Mara-Serengeti ecosystem that once a year witnesses the annual migration of the herds across its open short grass plains, as they move to and from the Serengeti. Then, up in Lake Nakuru, flocks of hundreds of thousands of pink flamingos regularly descend on the lake, creating one of Africa’s prettiest spectacles.

Wildlife population in Kenya is very good, and in our experience local people are still friendly and welcoming, despite some opinions that poor conditions in the country have contributed to lesser hospitality in recent years. However, parts of the country - especially the Maasai Mara and Amboseli - have become very busy, if not crowded. In some areas the open-topped land rovers we like are replaced with closed minibus type vehicles that can be crowded and uncomfortable - thus it is critical to select your destination and camps very carefully.

If you are looking for a luxury safari in Kenya, our team has the extensive knowledge and experience to recommend the top places and the best times of year to visit. For more information on our Kenya safaris, get in touch with one of our consultants today.
