WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT IT:
Tubu Tree Camp is situated in the remote Jao Reserve - an area of 60,000 hectares bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana's Okavango Delta. The camp sleeps a maximum of 16 guests in 8 spacious and comfortable tents, including a larger one suitable for a family. The well-furnished, luxury tents each have private decks which overlook the beauty of this natural grassy floodplain. Raised wooden boardwalks built between the trees connect the entire camp. Each tent has full en-suite bathroom facilities as well as a ‘closer-to-nature’ outdoor shower. The main dining and lounge areas are spacious tents on raised platforms, with an outdoor bar area built under the shade of a large marula tree. There is also a swimming pool to cool off in after a day’s game viewing.
Visitors to Tubu Tree Camp are fortunate in that they have a choice of both land and water activities, depending on the Okavango's floodwater levels, which vary with the season. Game drives take you through dry Kalahari sandveld, through mopane forest and riverine forest on the edge of permanent waterways and floodplains. The area is a wildlife photographer’s dream, as sightings include elephant, lion, leopard, spotted hyena, zebra, giraffe, tsessebe, red lechwe, wildebeest, kudu, impala, and bushbuck. Birding enthusiasts too, are thrilled by the diverse and remarkable species to be found in the forest areas and wetlands.
