- Summer-time game viewing
- Elevated tented camps
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT IT:
Kalahari Plains Camp is set in the heart of Botswana’s Kalahari Game Reserve. A remote area, which in summer, offers some of the best game viewing in Africa. In season, the desert attracts vast herds of gemsbok, red hartebeest, springbok, and blue wildebeest, hunted by a large collection of predators - including cheetah and the legendary, beautiful black-maned Kalahari lion.
Luxury solar powered tents raised off the ground are designed for optimum game viewing and relaxation. The comfortably furnished bedroom leads on to a covered deck where stairs point to an open topped viewing area above the bedroom. Once up here the sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding natural environment will take your breath away.
The main area consists of a bar where guests can congregate and discuss the day’s activities and sightings. Alternatively you can relax in the comfortable lounge area and browse the small reference library before taking meals in the dining area. There is a swimming pool close to the main area where you can cool off from the midday Kalahari heat.
Many of the staff at Kalahari Plains Camp are San descendants, and can offer interesting insights into the cultures and traditions that make up this ancient part of the world. Expertly guided game drives offer wonderful viewing and photographic opportunities, both during the day and at night.
